The Genesis of Voices Unbound.
Voices Unbound was founded to disrupt systemic inequalities in Kenya by harnessing the power of media and storytelling. Our founders—media professionals and activists—recognized that women, girls, and marginalized communities were often silenced or misrepresented. They created a platform to amplify these voices and bridge the gap between grassroots realities and regional narratives.
"I believe that every story has the power to change the world. Through Voices Unbound, we are not just telling stories; we are creating a legacy."
— Otieno Odongo, Founder
The organization emerged from direct consultations where communities highlighted critical gaps in menstrual health education, gender-based violence (GBV) awareness, and economic empowerment. Since its inception, we have trained women and youth in storytelling, journalism, and advocacy, turning them into agents of change.
